More than a decade after the Northeast Chapter ceased to exist due to lack of volunteers, our current chapter convener, Kelley Cameron True, submitted a request to have the chapter reinstated. Her request was facilitated by Sherry Cameron, Clan Cameron Association's North American U.S. President, and was granted in May of 2022 by the late Donald Angus Cameron of Lochiel, 27th Clan Chief of Clan Cameron at Achnacarry in Lochaber, Scotland. With a new charter and a growing group of volunteers, Clan Cameron Northeast is poised for growth. The Clan’s re-emergence at New England Highland Games and Festivals is just the beginning. Through outreach, community involvement, and celebrating our heritage, we hope to inspire the next generation of Camerons to take pride in their roots and continue the Clan’s legacy.
The Clan Cameron Association was formed in 1889 thanks to the endeavours of a number of enthusiastic Camerons who valued the clan and its links throughout the world. The original aims of the association were "the reviving, conserving, and promoting of the interests, sentiments, and associations of the Clan: the cultivation of social intercourse among members: the encouragement of education: the collecting and preservation of records and traditions relating to the History of the Clan, and any other objects which the Association may from time to time determine". And these are as relevant today as they were more than a hundred and twenty years ago. Over the years the fortunes of the Association have waxed and waned with the development of new Branches at home and abroad. Currently this Association called Clan Cameron Association Scotland covers all the UK and Europe.
The Northeast Chapter represents the northern New England region, including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts but no matter where you live, we welcome your membership and support.
Our long term mission is to promote and preserve the heritage of our members by promoting friendship among the North Americans who enjoy a distant kinship, encouraging, through education, the perpetuation in North America of the history, music and folklore of our ancestors.
All of this is supported through your membership.
